Description

Y Bwthyn is a beautifully secluded holiday cottage, just a short walk from the centre of St. Davids on the Pembrokeshire coast, Britains smallest city.

Sleeps Two

The cottage has been lovingly restored from a medieval stone barn and offers spacious and stylish self-catering accommodation for two people. The bedroom features a king-sized double bed, which can be separated to form twin single beds if required. A travel cot is also available, on request. The modern and well-appointed bathroom features a shower with seating, and the contemporary kitchen has everything that visitors need. The lounge has a cosy wood burning stove, TV, and DVD player, and there are plenty of local books and maps to help visitors to explore the area. Outside, there is a private patio and a barbecue, to enjoy those enchanting summer evenings.

It’s just a short walk into St. Davids itself, where there are plenty of smart shops, pubs, and restaurants to discover. Of course, the star attraction in St. Davids is the stunning cathedral of the same name, and it is a must-see destination, along with the neighboring Bishops Palace. Visitors cannot fail to be impressed and inspired by the cathedral, nestled into the hillside and looking out to the sea in the distance.

Wildlife enthusiasts will be delighted by the various trips and tours that are on offer locally. Ramsey Island, for example, is located just off the St. Davids Peninsula and is a haven for seabirds, including guillemots, kittiwakes, auks, and razorbills. Dolphins and grey seals are also frequent visitors to this stretch of coastline, and boat trips regularly spot these beautiful creatures at close hand. If you are really lucky, you may even be able to see the west coast of Ireland on a clear day. Boat trips are available from St Justinian’s from April to October.

All along this stretch of coast, there are secret coves and glorious beaches to explore. Some have broad expanses of soft, golden sand, whilst others are tucked away little gems that are just waiting to be discovered. Porthmawr is family friendly and a popular choice, whilst Caerfai and Porthclais are smaller and popular with bathers and kayakers alike.

For visitors looking to eat out during their stay, St. Davids offers a range of quality restaurants and cafes. St Davids Kitchen is committed to producing superb food using locally grown produce and their own home-reared meats. They are justifiably proud of the fact that most of the food they serve has traveled less than 3 miles to reach their tables. For a dining experience, you won’t forget in a hurry, head to Grubs Kitchen, where you can feast on tempting dishes that feature insects, or even dishes made exclusively of insects if you are feeling adventurous.

Whether you’re looking for a romantic break in a beautiful location or an adventure-filled holiday with plenty of exciting things to see and do, Pembrokeshire has it all. St. Davids makes a fantastic base for a holiday in this area, and Y Bwthyn will ensure visitors have a stylish and comfortable stay.
