Description

Located in the Cairngorms National Park, Killiehuntly Farmhouse is a distinctive accommodation that merges Scottish heritage with Scandinavian design. This tranquil haven, established in 1850 and reopened in 2015, provides a luxury experience in one of Scotland’s most dramatic landscapes. Owned by Anders Holch Povlsen, the farmhouse reflects his commitment to environmental restoration, evident in the surrounding native Caledonian Forest.

Killiehuntly Farmhouse, designed to accommodate up to eight guests, is a testament to refined minimalism and comfort. Its interior, curated by Ruth Kramer, features a blend of upcycled materials, hardwoods, and modern aesthetics. The property offers a unique experience where guests can enjoy a relaxed pace of life, with amenities like an honesty bar and a selection of board games and books, in lieu of televisions, to encourage interaction and relaxation.

The accommodation consists of four bedrooms named Alder, Birch, Elm, and Oak, each furnished with locally crafted woodwork and a calming color scheme. Notable is the Alder room, which provides a romantic setting with its four-poster bed and en-suite facilities. The attention to detail extends to bespoke features like Lithuanian linens, adding to the comfort and luxury of the stay.

Culinary offerings at Killiehuntly are a highlight, with Chef Tom Park presenting dishes that showcase Scottish flavors and ingredients. The menu features local specialties such as roasted west coast langoustines and estate venison, accompanied by a hand-picked selection of wines. Breakfasts include farm-fresh eggs, smoked Highland trout, and artisan sourdough, underlining the farmhouse’s emphasis on high-quality, local produce.

For guests preferring self-catering options, Killiehuntly provides cottages like The Bothy and Geordie’s Cottage. These cottages offer a blend of comfort and independence, with fully equipped kitchens and captivating views of the Highland landscape.

Killiehuntly caters to outdoor enthusiasts with a range of activities, including complimentary bike use, e-bikes, and the organization of unique experiences such as 4×4 safaris and guided tours. Families with children over ten years old will find the property accommodating, with its focus on nature-based activities and a peaceful environment.

Conveniently located a brief drive from the A9, the farmhouse offers easy access to nearby Aviemore and Ruthven Barracks, making it an excellent base for exploring the region’s history and natural beauty.

Overall, Killiehuntly Farmhouse stands out as an exclusive retreat where guests can immerse themselves in a blend of Scottish tradition and Scandinavian simplicity, set against the backdrop of Scotland’s rugged wilderness.
